U.S. furniture market opportunities for B.C. manufacturers
This project involved a market assessment of the household furniture market in the western U.S. for a dozen B.C. manufacturers desiring to become active exporters. They wished to enter a large, fragmented and price competitive market. A leading industry publication counted 70 distribution channels. Information was gathered first from commercial market research, public sources and field visits to wholesalers. Structured telephone interviews confirmed purchase interest with one group of retailers in the Pacific Northwest. Most clients were advised that they needed to upgrade their designs and sales material in order to compete in the U.S.
